We are initiating a petition against increase in VAT, as this possibility was mentioned publicly several times by the newly appointed Minister of Finance Dušan Vujović. It is said that the Government is, allegedly, forced to take such measures in case other measures fail to deliver.
Citizens will be able to sign the petition on the website pdvstop.rs as well as during street actions „Defend Your Wallet“ which will precede the great Taxpayers March on September 20th this year in Belgrade.
We are the only ones that launched an initiative in 2012 with which we called for citizens to join us in raising a voice against the then increase in VAT rate from 18 to 20%. During the previous Taxpayers March in June last year, we sent a request that the Government reduces public spending, decreases public debt and ease the tax pressure.
Today, once more we believe that increase in VAT would be unjustified and harmful.
Government has yet to embark on fiscal consolidation, and already the public is buzzing about possible increase in VAT which most directly impacts our wallets. Citizens are not due to pay for irresponsibility of politicians over and over.
Not only would we face higher prices, but the Government would with this move create conditions for a decrease in an already languishing economic activity that it is fruitlessly trying to encourage.
This petition is an appeal by the citizens who want a Government that spends less and more responsibly, and not an irresponsible Government that increases its taxes.
Because of all of this, we initiate this petition both online and through our street actions.
Sign the petition!
